AWX still running in the fast lane.

For the second year running, AWX have been awarded for outstanding performance in business, making the BRW Fast 100 list.

BRW's Fast 100 is the most comprehensive annual guide to the booming SME sector. This list ranks the 100 fastest-growing small and medium-size businesses by annual revenue growth over three years. It provides an invaluable snapshot of Australia's best emerging businesses.

In 2008 AWX was awarded 88th and has again managed to secure a spot in the top 100, placing 90th on the list. AWX has proved its’ underlying value can withstand a major economic correction. CEO Thomas Strachan stated, “The labour hire and recruitment industry was significantly affected by the global financial crisis environment with many competitors experiencing a drop in revenues of at least half on the prior year”. Yet with strong leadership, entrepreneurialism and internal commitment, AWX still delivered growth.  Although the growth AWX experienced was not as significant in the 2009 financial year as previous years, Tom says it was one of the best years for the business in that the owners and senior management set a clear strategic direction, became far more focused on volume protection and capital management and Tom says the AWX culture became more engrained as the economic conditions worsened.

“The 2009 year was one for consolidation and opportunity and whilst we looked at a number of opportunities we decided against volume that did not enhance overall profitability”.  Throughout the period Strachan says AWX concreted their positions within the health and mining industries, which are significant in his view for long term sustainability.

As AWX continues to grow and partner new industry sectors CEO Thomas Strachan says “it is our clients that are the backbone of our business and growth targets. “We would like to extend our thanks and recognition to our clients who have supported us in what has been a difficult year for business all-round”.
