About the Roles

Have you had experince with camping remotly and enjoy working outdoors. Do you have a passion for Agriculture and done any study in the field? AWX are seeking highly motivated Forest Rangers in the Marybourough Region. There are multiple positions going with a different focus between roles. Please see below for the different positions available:

Role 1:

To achieve the outcomes required by this role, you must be able to:
 Assist in the measurement of native forest inventory sample plots by accurately
measuring and recording individual tree parameters
 Operate confidently in remote forest environments
 Assist in the co-ordination of day-to-day activities associated with the native forest
resource assessment project.
 Conduct operational and resource assessment tasks in accordance with policy, direction,
codes of practice and environmental management guidelines.
 Liaise with Forest Products stakeholders including clients, other Government agency
representatives and members of the public.
 As required, assist to protect assets in terms of fire management activities, including
prescribed burning, top disposal and wildfire control and supervise heavy machinery
operations.
 Plan and implement resource assessment tasks, maintain records including computer
records and prepare timely reports and progress updates.
 Undertake other duties as they may arise and within the current skills and capability level
of the position, as directed.
 Relevant transferable experience would be desirable.
 The ability to obtain proficiency in the use of GPS units and other navigational aids.
 Possession of a current Queensland C class Driver's License or equivalent.
 Regular travelling and working away from headquarters (including bush camping in some
regions) is a requirement of this position. Travel allowances are payable in accordance
with policies and directives.

Role 2:

To achieve the outcomes required by this role, you must be able to:
 Assist in the preparation of sale proposals for designated forest products including
Operational Harvest Plans.
 Monitor sales of designated forest products including performance, associated planning
and the co-ordination of day-to-day operational activities against the sales permit.
 Undertake tree marking and measuring of native timber and forest products (where
applicable).
 Conduct operational tasks in accordance with policy, legislative direction, codes of
practice and environmental management guidelines.
 Monitor and assess the performance standards of clients and contractors.
 Liaise with Forest Products stakeholders including clients and their contractors, other
Government agency representatives and members of the public.
 As required, assist to protect assets in terms of fire management activities, including
prescribed burning, top disposal and wildfire control and supervise heavy machinery
operations.
 Plan and implement cost effective operations, maintain records including computer
records and prepare timely and comprehensive reports.
 Undertake other duties as they may arise and within the current skills and capability level
of the position, as directed.
 Relevant transferable experience would be desirable.
 The ability to obtain proficiency in ArcGIS products, google earth or other equivalent
spatial mapping programs.
 Possession of a current Queensland C class Driver's License or equivalent.
 Regular travelling and working away from headquarters (including bush camping in some
regions) is a requirement of this position. Travel allowances are payable in accordance
with policies and directives

Ability to work unsupervised and with others
Experience working in remote/rural locations preferred
Experience working as a Forest Ranger or in the agricultural industry preferred
Must have a positive 'CAN DO' attitude and be self-motivated
Must have own PPE
