The Project
Our client has partnered with leading research organisations on an exciting field trial based in Emerald, QLD. The project focuses on understanding how crushed basalt affects CO₂ capture, crop productivity, and soil health through a process known as enhanced rock weathering. This is part of a national initiative supported by the Australian Government’s Climate-Smart Agriculture Program.

The Role
This casual part-time position offers the right candidate an opportunity to contribute to innovative, real-world research in sustainable agriculture. Working alongside a multi-disciplinary research team, you will support field and laboratory activities under the direction of the trial manager.

Work will be based in Emerald, with an expected commitment of approximately 1–2 days per week for 3–6 months, depending on seasonal conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain experimental plots and field equipment
• Collect and analyse samples of plants, soil, water, and air
• Prepare samples for laboratory testing and record accurate data
• Support the team with day-to-day field and administrative tasks

• Comfortable working outdoors in hot and humid conditions
• Able to work independently and follow scientific and safety protocols
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Practical, solutions-focused mindset with good attention to detail
• Welcome applicants currently studying or researching at Master’s or PhD level in agriculture or related fields
