Apprentices and trainees
    for employers

    Future proofing Australian industries

Traineeships and apprenticeships are a valuable tool for future-proofing your industry in Australia during a crisis of limited skilled workers. They provide a pathway for businesses to train and develop their own workforce, whilst giving trainees and apprentices the exposure and experience they need for their career.

    Empowering tomorrow's workforce

Participants have the opportunity to learn from experienced workers with on-the-job training ensuring they’re well prepared for the workforce with the knowledge required. It’s also a sustainability opportunity for businesses, helping them to future proof their workforce by training new workers to replace those who are planning to depart or already left.

AWX is committed to providing facilitated learning, training and professional development opportunities to our staff, enabling them to access a wealth of career opportunities. This also empowers our business partners with highly skilled and qualified workforces.

    Nurturing future leaders

AWX simplifies the process of offering traineeships and apprenticeships for employers. How it works

AWX staff are well equipped to support you throughout the entire training process, from start to completion. This includes:

    • Recruitment

Our passionate team handles the recruitment process to find the right apprentice or trainee suited to your business and culture. We advertise the roles, screen the candidates, undertake interviews, contact the RTO and support the trainee or apprentice to commence their qualification.

    • Safety

We prioritise safety by ensuring a safe workplace and delivering our clients with staff who are committed to safe work practices. Each apprentice and trainee undergoes comprehensive training as part of their induction.

    • Admin

We facilitate all enrolment and administration requirements, set training plan as well as manage payroll, engage with relevant stakeholders, for example, with the Apprenticeship Centre’s and RTO’s.

    • Training

The training requirements for apprenticeships and traineeships vary depending on what you’ve chosen to study. Training is delivered in the workplace or at a dedicated training facility where applicable, which allows every trainee to receive a customised training plan to suit your needs as an employer.

Blended delivery uses a combination of campus, workplace face-to-face and online training and assessment and is typically used to support courses that have hands-on and practical elements. A trainer comes to where the trainee is working (site) and works with them through their training requirements.

Apprentices generally attend a campus on block release or onsite delivery method. Blended programs are designed to allow students to study the theory at work with workplace practice assessment observing hands-on tasks.

Traineeships have allocated theory time of a minimum of two hours per week with a supervisor, this also include a trainer visit approximately every six to eight weeks.

    • Mentoring and support

Each apprentice or trainee is assigned a dedicated training field officer who facilitates a smooth transition to their role and provides ongoing support for the best outcomes as they navigate their professional development. Mentors play a crucial role in helping trainees and apprentices maximise their training experience, build their confidence, foster relationships and ensuring they stay on the right track. Mentors can also help improve retention rates of trainees and apprentices and create a positive and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities of trainee or apprentice hosts

As a host of trainees or apprentices, you will have several responsibilities, including:

    • Ensuring appropriate training facilities are available to provide training for your apprentice or trainee.
    • Guaranteeing the safety and wellbeing of the trainee and apprentice while on site.
    • Providing a qualified supervisor to teach and guide the learner in their qualification.
    • Assisting in workplace training, maintaining a safe work environment, and allowing the apprentice or trainee time to participate in training.
    • You get a probationary period to ensure you've selected the right candidate for your business needs.
    • Determining that you're choosing the appropriate trainee or apprentice to suit your business, depending on their qualification.
