    Types of traineeships 

    At AWX, we support apprentices and trainees to upskill in a range of industries suited to their interests and goals. Some of the common industries include, however are not limited to include:

    Civil construction apprenticeship 

    Develop your skills in plant operating, working in bitumen resurfacing and pipe laying on projects ranging from roadworks to infrastructure development through a Certificate II or Certificate III in Civil Construction. 

    Building and construction traineeships 

    Join Australia’s construction industry through an apprenticeship or traineeship such as carpentry or building apprenticeship, concreting or steel fixing, equipping you for a career in building construction. 

    Food processing traineeships 

    AWX’s food processing traineeships offer a vast array of opportunity – from Certificate II or III in Food Processing to a Certificate III in Supply Chain operations. These traineeships will support you to learn industry specific skills to set you up as in food production related roles. 

    Landscaping and horticulture

    What's the process?

    You might be wondering how it all works when it comes to apprenticeships and traineeships. You might have an idea of the qualifications you’d like to pursue however not one hundred percent sure which certification is the right fit for you – that’s ok.     Once you know the type of qualification you want to undertake, there is four simple steps: 

    01 Recruitment

    Apply for a job vacancy, attend an interview, undertake a skills assessment and reference checks with the host business. Our team will support you in finding a traineeship or apprenticeship to suit your goals.

    02 Induction

    Once you’ve secured an apprenticeship or traineeship, complete the onboarding processes including contract information, salary, timesheets, and benefits package. Participate in workplace health and safety training and followed by a workplace tour. 

    03 Training

    As you progress through your traineeship or apprenticeship, your dedicated Training Program Manager will be there to support you, monitor your training plan, and ensure your safety in the workplace is maintained. 

    04 Completed

    Once all your training criteria is successfully completed, your qualifications can be formalised.

      Staff undergoing an apprenticeship are likely seeking a trade qualification. Once you complete the training, you're able to work alone or supervise staff. Whereas traineeships are usually undertaken by staff who are keen to pursue non-traditional trades occupations and looking to gain experience and formalise skills your career growth.

      The length of an apprenticeship or traineeship can vary depending on the field of work and level of qualification. Typically, it ranges from 12 months to 48 months. Your AWX Training Program Manager will take you through all of the information so you can make an informed decision about your qualification.  

    • Will I get paid while doing my apprenticeship/traineeship?

      One of the perks of undertaking an apprenticeship or traineeship is that you will be paid a wage whilst upskilling.  

    • How old do you have to be to do an apprenticeship?

      Apprenticeships and traineeships are open to people of all ages looking to upskill or pursue a new career path.
