AWX are seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join two local projects at the Southern end of the Gold Coast. This role is a crucial part of the construction operations of this project, it involves overseeing the day-to-day activities of our on-site workforce and ensuring the successful delivery of current projects.
We will also consider highly skilled labourers for this project.
THE ROLE
- Coordinating construction work and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
- Ordering materials, equipment and labour, to maximise productivity
- Maintaining site security and fences
- Overseeing the correct installation and maintenance of site safety measures including handrails, bunting etc
- Site cleaning and maintenance
- Monitoring progress and quality of work, and implementing necessary corrective actions
- Communicating regularly with the project manager
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations
- Assisting with the planning and scheduling of construction activities
- Someone with experience as a Leading Hand with a proven track record of successfully working on construction projects
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate teams
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on finding practical solutions
- Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials and equipment, as well as relevant health and safety regulations
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans and specifications
- Willing to jump in and get on the tools' when needed

REQUIREMENTS
- Certificate III in civil construction or similar qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret plans
- Organise the project to run efficiently and effectively manage the trades on site
- Good level of physical fitness
- White Card or construction blue card (physical copy)
- Willing to commit to Monday to Friday day work with possible Saturday work.
- Reliable transport to get to and from the depot.
- Relevant competencies
To be considered, you must be suitably qualified and have proven experience in the construction industry
