The Role 
We are seeking a skilled Manager, Special Projects for a 6‑month contract supporting the delivery of priority initiatives under the Regional Collaborative Governance Model. This role can be based in a number of regional centres around Queensland (Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Bundaberg, Toowoomba, Rockhampton or Brisbane)

You will work closely with the Director, Regional Collaboration and Regional Leadership Networks to coordinate special projects, strengthen cross‑agency collaboration and help deliver meaningful outcomes for Queensland’s regional communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support stakeholder engagement, facilitation and partnership‑building.
  • Prepare high‑quality reports, project plans and briefing materials.
  • Develop and maintain consistent project management tools and frameworks.
  • Identify issues affecting cross‑agency collaboration and escalate appropriately.
  • Support the work of Regional Leadership Networks across Queensland.
  • Coordinate meetings, actions, data storage and reporting across regions.
  • Ensure privacy and confidentiality are upheld at all times.
  • Support consistent reporting and information sharing between regions.
  • Facilitate opportunities for learning and collaboration across government.
  • Undertake other duties as required.
The Candidate 
  • Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership development
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Project management experience, including information governance
  • Understanding of Queensland Government processes (highly desirable)
  • Experience in research, analysis or policy development
  • Ability to work in complex or collaborative environments, ideally in regional settings
  • Persistent and accountable in overcoming challenges
  • Strong collaborator who builds constructive, cross‑agency relationships
  • Awareness of social and community issues impacting regional Queensland
  • Travel may be required, including outside normal office hours.
