With the season just around the corner, AWX is recruiting for immediate vacancies in Mossman and South Johnstone and inviting expressions of interest for upcoming roles in Cairns.

The roles
We’re seeking Field Surveillance Officers to support eradication programs focused on removing harmful species from the Australian environment.
These roles involve working in tropical conditions and navigating challenging terrain, including steep slopes, dense vegetation and remote bushland areas. Team members may also encounter hazardous flora and fauna, so confidence and awareness in the field are essential.
What they’ll do
Duties include (but aren’t limited to):
- Conducting field-based surveillance, mapping and treatment activities
- Safely using hand tools such as machetes for treatment work
- Collecting and recording GPS data and project information
- Working collaboratively in outdoor teams to meet operational targets
- Operating and maintaining field equipment including spray units, chainsaws, GPS units and navigational tools
What they’ll need
- Genuine enthusiasm for outdoor work and physically demanding tasks
- Experience in labouring, landscaping, bushland or tropical field work
- Ability to work in varied and challenging environmental conditions for extended periods
- Strong commitment to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS)
- Current Queensland open manual C class driver’s licence
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening, functional assessments and obtain a National Police Check
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency, or valid work rights with any relevant conditions confirmed prior to engagement
