The role 
Are you an experienced Financial Accountant looking for a role where you can make a meaningful impact across major infrastructure projects? This 12‑month contract, based in Maryborough , offers an excellent opportunity for someone open to travelling or relocating  with a relocation bonus available to support your move.

In this role, you will take a lead position in ensuring accurate financial governance around trunk infrastructure, including the recognition of revenue, assets, liabilities, offsets, and expenses.

Key Responsibilities  
  • Ensure infrastructure charges revenue is recognised at the correct trigger points
  • Record trunk infrastructure assets at full actual cost when placed on maintenance
  • Manage and reconcile residual offsets and related liabilities
  • Identify and record non‑asset offsets in line with accounting standards
  • Prepare and review accounting entries relating to offsets, deferrals, and prepaid assets/liabilities
  • Conduct regular variance analysis related to infrastructure charges
  • Maintain accounting position papers and financial treatment guidelines
  • Develop financial tools and models to support forecasting and long‑term planning
  • Collaborate with Development, Engineering, and Asset Management teams
  • Provide financial advice during negotiations and execution of infrastructure agreements
  • Deliver training, templates, and guidance materials to internal stakeholders
  • Support process improvement and system enhancement initiatives

About You  
  • Proven experience in complex financial accounting and reporting
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (asset and revenue recognition)
  • Ability to develop financial systems and processes that improve transparency
  • High‑level analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting or business (AQF7 or higher)
  • CPA/CA membership (desirable)
  • Experience in local government or infrastructure accounting (desirable)
