The Role

We are seeking a Workshop & Operations Manager to join a well-established manufacturer and supplier of underground mining components, based in Emerald, QLD. 
This is a permanent full time position, directly reporting the Managing Director

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of hands-on workshop coordination and broader operational leadership. You will play a key part in ensuring quality, safety, and smooth operations across all areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead quality assurance processes, including audits, supplier compliance, and documentation
• Oversee engineering processes and liaise with both suppliers and mining clients
• Ensure quality control on all incoming goods and technical components
• Interpret and verify technical/engineering drawings
• Manage and maintain QA documentation, internal reports, and certificates
• Coordinate freight logistics (air and sea), liaising with overseas suppliers and customs
• Support mechanical fitting duties and workshop tasks as needed
• Drive operational planning, stock control, cost efficiency, and process improvements
• Coordinate sprocket overhauls and component assemblies
• Ensure workplace safety in line with QLD WHS legislation
• Act as First Aid Officer

• Holds a Mechanical Engineering or Trade Certificate (required)
• Has solid experience in the coal mining industry—UG experience preferred but open to above-ground backgrounds
• Demonstrates strong mechanical and operational leadership experience
• Confident in interpreting technical data and engineering drawings
• Forklift license (advantageous)
