AWX is seeking 2 experienced Electrical Mechanics to join a well-established government infrastructure team based in Cairns, working across the Far North region as required. This isn't your standard commercial electrical role. You'll be working across essential public road and transport infrastructure, including traffic signals, street and road lighting, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), data and communications networks, CCTV, fibre and associated electrical assets. This is a great opportunity to join an established infrastructure environment offering ongoing skills development, structured training and exposure to specialised electrical systems that keep Queensland's road network operating safely and efficiently.
What you'll do
- Install, maintain, test and repair traffic signals, street lighting and ITS infrastructure.
- Undertake electrical fault-finding, testing and verification across road network assets.
- Work across data, communications, fibre, CCTV, vehicle detection and associated field cabling.
- Complete works safely and in accordance with electrical, WHS and departmental standards.
Tickets & experience you'll need
- Current Queensland Electrical Mechanic Licence licence class must state Electrical Mechanic.
- Current CPR and LVR Perform Rescue from a Live LV Panel competencies.
- White Card and current Queensland C Class Driver's Licence.
- Relevant electrical trade experience, ideally across traffic signals, street lighting, ITS, infrastructure, industrial maintenance or field service, plus your own basic hand tools.
- MR Driver's Licence.
- EWP High Risk Work Licence WP >11m.
- Working in Proximity to Traffic Parts 1 & 2.
- ACMA Open Cabler registration with Structured, Optical Fibre and/or Coaxial endorsements.
