AWX Executive Recruitment is partnering with a highly regarded and fast-growing civil construction specialist to appoint an Estimator / Draftsperson into their Civil Retaining Walls division.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a business with long-term tenure, strong leadership, and an energetic, inclusive culture, delivering technically challenging retaining wall projects across South East Queensland.
The Opportunity Based in North Brisbane, you will play a key role across estimating, drafting, and cost planning for civil retaining wall projects ranging from $100k to $5M, working with Tier 2 civil contractors and developers.
You will be involved early in the project lifecycle, collaborating closely with project managers, supervisors, and coordinators to ensure accurate pricing, compliant designs, and smooth project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates by reviewing civil plans, drawings, and specifications
- Determine construction methods, materials, labour, and time requirements
- Draft and interpret engineering and architectural drawings
- Analyse retaining walls for static and dynamic loads at a quoting level
- Identify discrepancies and assess design changes and cost impacts
- Monitor and manage estimating variations and budget controls
- Ensure plans comply with relevant building and engineering requirements
- Use systems including AutoCAD, Autodesk products, Microsoft Office, Excel and Procore
- 1–5 years’ experience as an Estimator and/or Draftsperson within construction or civil works
- Ability to read and interpret civil and structural drawings
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience highly regarded)
- Strong attention to detail and a high-quality work standard
- Sound understanding of construction terminology, processes and engineering principles
- Confident communicator able to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working autonomously or within a team
- Interest in professional growth and long-term development
