You know how to handle a truck, load safely and get the job done properly. Now you may be looking for the opportunity to take on more responsibility. AWX is recruiting an experienced HR Driver / Depot Team Leader for a growing Sunshine Coast removals and mobile storage business.
This is still a hands-on role. You will drive, operate forklifts, load, move and work alongside the crew. You will also help organise jobs, lead people on site and set the standard for how the work gets done. You will initially work from the established Cooroy operation, learning the business, equipment and expectations before transitioning to the new Caboolture depot.
It could also suit someone based around Caboolture or Moreton Bay who is comfortable travelling to Cooroy initially and wants a longer term opportunity closer to home.
About our client
Our client is a locally grown removals and storage business with a strong focus on customer service and doing the job properly. The operation covers local, regional and interstate removals along with mobile storage, where storage units are delivered to customers, loaded and returned to secure storage facilities. The expectation is simple. Look after the customer, look after their belongings and take pride in the job. Crews vary in size depending on the work, so you need to be comfortable leading people while still getting involved yourself.
What you'll do
- Drive HR or MR trucks across residential, commercial, urban and regional jobs
- Operate forklifts, including truck mounted equipment
- Lead crews across removals, deliveries and storage jobs
- Keep jobs organised, safe and running efficiently
- Learn the Cooroy operation before transitioning to Caboolture
The balance between driving, physical work and leadership will change depending on what the operation needs. This is a working Team Leader role, not a desk based supervisor position.
Tickets & experience you'll need
- Current HR Driver Licence (Manual and Automatic)
- Current High Risk Work Licence for Forklift
- Comfortable with regular manual handling
- Good communication skills
- Reliable, organised and comfortable taking responsibility for a job and crew
Experience as a Leading Hand, Team Leader, Senior Driver, Removalist, Delivery Driver or Depot Operator would be highly regarded.You do not need to have managed a depot before. We are particularly interested in someone who is already trusted within their current team. The person who helps organise the crew, shows newer people how things should be done and steps in when something needs sorting out.
Benefits
- $37.50 per hour starting rate (negotiable on experience) genuine temp to perm opportunity
- Monday to Friday, generally 7am to 3pm
- Occasional Saturday morning work with appropriate penalties
- Opportunity to grow into greater responsibility as the depot develops
- Further rate progression for proven performance
