Leading Hand - Civil Construction

About the Role We are currently seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join our growing civil construction team based in Rockhampton and surrounding Central Queensland region .
 
This is a hands-on position suited to a strong leader who can drive crew performance while maintaining a high standard of safety, quality, and productivity. You will be instrumental in delivering a range of civil infrastructure projects across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and coordinate civil construction crews and subcontractors
• Provide clear direction, on-the-job training, and ongoing support
• Build a positive, safety-first team culture on-site
• Champion safety compliance and safe work practices across all activities
• Ensure permits, JHAs, and site procedures are completed and adhered to
• Monitor works to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
• Coordinate plant, equipment, and material deliveries to site
• Optimise resource utilisation and minimise waste
• Maintain tools and equipment in line with operational requirements
• Monitor daily productivity and progress against project schedules
• Identify and communicate potential delays or cost impacts early
• Assist with cost tracking, reporting, and resolving site issues

About You Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Leading Hand or similar role within civil construction
• Certificate III in Civil Construction (or equivalent)
• Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision (highly regarded)

Skills & Attributes

• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
• Solid understanding of civil construction methodologies and site operations
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Highly organised with a strong focus on delivering outcomes
• Ability to work in trenches, uneven terrain and active construction sites
• Enjoys working outdoors
