We are seeking a Scientific Assistant to support agricultural research and development activities across laboratory, glasshouse and field environments.
This is a casual ongoing position based in Toowoomba, offering an opportunity to work across a variety of practical scientific and agricultural research activities.
You will work closely with research staff to support laboratory processing, glasshouse activities, field trials, sample collection, and data management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with laboratory processing and analysis of samples.
- Support glasshouse and field-based research trials.
- Maintain plants and research materials for experimental work.
- Collect, record and manage trial data in accordance with research protocols.
- Conduct field sampling and monitoring activities.
- Operate safely and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with research staff and stakeholders.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes and scientific integrity standards.
- Experience assisting with laboratory, agricultural, environmental, or scientific research activities.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- A practical approach to problem-solving and completing tasks.
- The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Current unrestricted Queensland "C" Class Driver Licence.
- Willingness to undertake regional travel, including occasional overnight stays.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting, bending, and working in field environments.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety requirements.
