We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Advisor for a 2‑year contract supporting the delivery of a major State Government infrastructure program. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role provides expert environmental guidance to ensure statutory compliance, effective environmental risk management and sustainable outcomes are embedded across all stages of project delivery.
You will work closely with project teams, consultants and stakeholders, playing a key role in environmental approvals, management and delivery assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level advice on Commonwealth and State environmental legislation, including the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
- Support the delivery of environmental approvals, conditions and offset requirements.
- Provide specialist environmental input across planning, design, construction and project delivery phases.
- Review project designs, environmental studies and statutory assessment documentation.
- Prepare and review Environmental Management Plans, specifications, audits and environmental briefs.
- Identify environmental risks and constraints and work with project teams to develop practical, compliant solutions.
- Coordinate environmental offset delivery and land acquisition activities.
- Liaise with regulators, government agencies and key internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare clear written advice, reports and briefing materials and represent the project at meetings and working groups as required.
- Experience providing environmental advice on major infrastructure or complex project environments
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals and compliance requirements
- Ability to work across planning, design and construction phases
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, or an equivalent discipline
- Current holder of a valid Class C driver’s licence
- Ability to successfully complete criminal history screening
