Frequently asked questions

  • What is a metallurgist job description?

    In the mining sector, a metallurgist plays a crucial role in the extraction and processing of valuable metals and minerals from ore. Metallurgists are materials engineers specialised in understanding the physical and chemical properties of metals and their behaviour during various stages of the mining and processing operations. 

  • What’s the difference between FIFO, DIDO and local roles?

    FIFO you fly in and DIDO you drive in. Local means you’re home every day. Simple as that. We’ll run through what each job looks like so you know what you’re walking into.

  • Do I need mining experience to get started?

    Not always. Some roles need guys who’ve done it before, others are open if you’ve got transferable skills and can handle the work. If you’re serious about getting into mining, we’ll tell you straight what you need.

  • How quickly can I get started?

    If your tickets are sorted and you’re ready to go, we can move pretty quickly. Some roles are immediate start, others take a bit longer with site onboarding.

  • What’s the roster like?

    This can vary by site. Could be 7/7, 2/1 or something else. You’ll know the roster before you sign on, no surprises.

  • What’s the pay like?

    Depends on the role and site. We’ll run through rates, penalties and allowances upfront so you know exactly what you’re getting.
