Problem
When our civil contracting client needed a crew urgently to sort pre-works so the site was established for new 15 lot subdivision project at Lowood, west of Brisbane, time wasn't on their side. Having previously worked with AWX back in 2022, the client knew we could move quickly and reached out on a Friday looking for labour support as soon as possible.
“With the project ready to move, any delay in establishing the site would have pushed back the start of works and created flow on impacts for the wider project timeline. The client needed a workforce partner who could move quickly and get the basics in place so the site could become operational without delay,” said Andy Botting, AWX Business Development Manager.
Solution
Having worked with AWX previously, the client knew they could rely on us to deliver when they needed support. Just 48 hours after the initial call, Andy was on site to understand the requirements, confirm the workforce needed and put a mobilisation plan in place.
“They’d worked with AWX before and shared we were easy to deal with and would get it done, that’s why they reached out when they needed people quickly. To mobilise a crew fast, we needed a few things from them upfront and because there was already that trust and open communication, we could have the conversation around what we needed to make it happen. We were aligned from the start and that helped us get people on site quickly,” said Andy.
This included a site safety assessment to understand the work environment, confirm the site was compliant and ensure our candidates had a safe workplace.
By Wednesday morning, AWX had the first employee on site, with a second labourer mobilised shortly after.
"What stood out most was how efficient AWX was within the first 24 hour window from the initial phone call to Andy to having people on site. Not only was the resource available quickly but they were able to achieve it with suitable labourers who were the right people for the job. That turnaround was perfect," said Rowland, civil contracting client.
The crew immediately got to work establishing the site, including installing temporary fencing, setting up the site signage, lunchroom and amenities among other general site establishment works.
Outcome
Within three days of the initial call, the site was fully established and operational. By moving quickly and providing reliable labour at short notice, AWX helped the civil contracting client maintain momentum with their subdivision project and avoid delays during a critical stage of the project.
Following the successful mobilisation, the client has requested ongoing requirement support for an additional two to three labourers, with AWX continuing to support the project as it progresses.
For the client, it's this ongoing investment in the relationship, taking the time to understand the business and what's needed on the ground that keeps them coming back to AWX.
